The mission of Ray of Hope is to provide housing, medical assistance, and education for the children in the community. We can offer the necessary support and family atmosphere they need in order to live successful, productive lives.
The goal of Ray of Hope is to not only provide healthy housing for children who have suffered the loss of their parents, but to also build a school, medical center, and cafeteria with nutritional food and clean water. The funds that continue to fuel the school will, not only provide the children with their primary education, but also offer them a chance for higher education and college to those who wish to be professionals like doctors, lawyers, and engineers.
Why do we do it?
- 1 in 12 children are orphaned in Uganda.
- According to the New York Times, although two million people with AIDS die each year, another three million adults and children will be infected. (Monday, May 10, 2010)
- According to a 2006 UNICEF Report, the total number of orphans in 2005 were 2,300,000 and the projected amount for this year is 2,500,000. One million of those was as a result of AIDS. (http://www.trustforafricasorphans.org.uk/facts_figures.htm)
- More and more children die each day because of exposure, malnutrition, malaria, typhoid, and AIDS.
